The Olympic Village
A Model in Green Lighting: the Use of Solar Energy in Landscape Lighting
HYLUN adopted a whole-of-life approach to the Olympic Village project. It provided master planning, product research and detailed design, installed all the light fittings, and handled maintenance. HYLUN’s design and engineering teams delivered excellent service to the client and completed the project within two years.
The idea of “zero emission” is at its best in this project. For the first time in China’s lighting industry, solar energy was used on a large scale in landscape lighting. The project also emphasized glare control and efficient light sources and electric appliances to enhance the principle of “green lighting.” The combination of LED lights and solar panels showcased the joint efforts of lighting designers and architects, particularly their attention to detail in installation and operation.
