Modern Technology Lights Historic Relics
The
lighting of the Forbidden City amplifies its grandeur and beauty. The project
follows the original style of the architecture and highlights its structure,
outline, and color.
Golden
roof, red walls, and white granite terrace represent the glory of the Forbidden
City and are duly emphasized in the landscape lighting. Elevator-platforms were
placed on the east and west sides of the red walls. On the platforms spotlights
were installed. These measures ensured that lighting fit the surface of the
architecture and the spotlights concentrated on the axis of the palace and
reduced light pollution. Projector lamps were placed outside the palace,
projecting light onto the roofs and walls, particularly the halls on the axis, such
as Gate of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony,
and Hall of Preserving Harmony.
