The unique architectural features of the National Center for the Performing Arts require a very special design.  Hylun’s design combines functionality and aesthetics, taking into account cultural implications, general lighting effect, and the visual effect from remote, medium, and close distances. 

The designed illuminance of the Center is around 100LUX. To achieve even illuminance, the 46-meter Center is divided into 5 sections vertically, each measuring 9.2 meters. The bottom three sections are floodlit by a wide-angle City Beam lens. The top 2 sections are further divided into 3 parts, each part being 6.134 meters. The lower two parts are lit by a medium-angle City Beam lens and the top part is lit by a narrow-angle City Beam lens.
